We headed back to Te Anau, and arrived at 1pm. We picked up the car, and looked at the map and were on our way to Queenstown.

Here is what we saw after we crossed through the Homer tunnel. there were many people on our bus that had never seen snow. They got out and had a snowball fight. We, on the other hand, were not as happy to see snow. We were looking for a tropical beach somewhere.

The road on the way back to Te Anau was dark and spooky. The weather had changed from the day before.

Milford Sound on day 2. We woke up to rain. It was fun to see the sound in a different light.

Mary's picture of the seals in Milford Sound. Alas..........still no penguins!!! We WILL find them before we come home.
Hal looking like he was going to tip over.........he was an expert at kayaking and went half way across the sound.

The next morning we got up, ate breakfast, and it was time for activities. Jone and Hal went out in the kayaks, and Andy and Mary took a boat ride around the sound. Here is a picture of Jone in the kayak. She thought she would get cold so she put on 5 layers of clothing. She could barely paddle.
Once the sun set, we headed back into the bay area and ate dinner. We had a wonderful buffet with salads, potatos, lamb and beef. There were also wonderful desserts such as fruit, cheese, chocolate mousse, pie, frozen berry ice cream and more. Here is a picture of the Beautiful Milford Sound. Can you hear Frodo talking?????

Once everyone was aboard, we set out to the Tasmin Sea to see the nature, and the sunset. Here is a picture of the beautiful sunset aboard the boat. The crew told us we were very lucky to see a sunset in Milford Sound. We were very lucky with the weather. It was a crisp, beautiful night with a full moon.
The Happy couples up on the top of the boat. Andy is a little queasy, but is a trooper. We were the only people left outside. The others were afraid of the cold wind. We are hardy Minnesotans after all.

We got to Milford sound about 4pm and loaded the boat. Here is a picture of the Boat in Milford Sound.

The Lake on the way to Milford Sound

Day 4 (Friday) We boarded a bus (coach) and headed out to Milford Sound. We stopped at several places along the way. One of the stops was in a Glacial valley on the way to Milford Sound. Another place was the rain forest where there were many waterfalls, and huge ferns. It was an interesting ride since the weather changed several times from misting to sunny and back.

Hi, I don't know if any of these will ever get through. We have enjoyed your many pictures. Miss you.
