Tuesday May 12th The Long and Winding Road

Mary and Jone jumped over to the big rocks, and got half way back when the tide decided to come in. Now, the dilemma......... do we jump or stay there until the tide goes out???? We jumped. Yeah, for waterproof shoes.

What do you suppose he is thinking????

On Tuesday morning, we had breakfast at the local restaurant and then began the long trek to Kaikoura. It was a long and winding road, but we filled the time listening to a radio station that had hits of the 70's. We found out later that Sara and Gareth were listening to the same station. This leg of the journey was one of the longest, and took us most of the day. We drove over 400km or 229 miles. Now, if this were on a highway, it wouldn't take that long, however, it is on 2 lane roads that are very windy, so it took over 6 hours to drive. When we arrived in Kaikoura, a quaint seaside town, we checked into the White Morph Inn and drove to the end of the peninsula where we found a colony of seals. There were several lying on rocks, and some swimming out in the ocean. When we got back to our rooms, Sara and Gareth decided to cook some dinner using the stove in the room. The rest of us went across the street to the White Morph Inn restaurant. The food was good.
